no, you cant vote for Franz Liszt himself...

If you put "other", please specify.  I want to know some more great Liszt pianists!

Personally, I like Cziffra, Horowitz, and Hough the most..

Cziffra IS the liszt interpreter of the 20th century...as much as Horowitz is the greatest pianist I've ever heard, when it comes to ANYTHING by Liszt, Ziff blows Lang Lang, Kissin, Horowitz, Hough, argerich, OUT OF THE WATER.

in my opinon.

Although Yundi Li is best known as a Chopin interpreter, his Liszt is also excellent.

IMO the best recording of the concertos was done by Richter.  They beat Van Cliburn, Zimmerman, Pletnev, etc..

Never cared much for Richter's Liszt in general, and as far as the concertos I'd take Janis, Ogdon, ABM, Lipatti, and of course, Cziffra.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .........Ashkenazy........

:(

Well, next to Ashkenazy, I'd pick Brendel, Arrau, Kapell, Argerich, and Cziffra.

By the way, Cziffra can't TOUCH Ashkenazy's Mephisto.  No one can, not Brendel...not anyone.  Well, Kapell's is incredible as well.  But they are incomparible.

I like Kyoko Tabe and Grigory Ginsburg.  Tabe has a recording of one of my favorite Liszt pieces - Rigoletto paraphrase, and did such a beautiful job.  Ginsburg has that  amazing recording of the Hungarian Rhapsodies, which was all I listened to for a while!

Ashkenazy has pretty much played everything..

I know that he has done the sonata, Mephisto, and have heard of some others.  It is possible that he doesn't play much Liszt, but the Liszt that he has done is to me, untouchable.

How can Cecile Ousset not in the list???!!!!!!!!!! I have her recording on Liszt's Sonata in B min, and Paganini studies. Superb.

For those who are interested, should check out Minoru Nojima's recording on Liszt. This guy has so far only made 2 recording. What a lost for music lovers. His La Campanella. still by far, some of the "best" performance I have ever heard. Not to mention his Liszt's piano sonata in B min. Every single note, thrills, have their own character. Simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
