About Franz Liszt's Apparitions
The three Apparitions date from 1834, the same year as the original Harmonies poétiques et réligieuses and the unfinished De profundis for piano and orchestra.
The third piece of the group is the first example of Liszt re-interpreting the music of Schubert, a composer who was relatively unknown at the time, but whom Liszt had met in Vienna in his early youth.
