Mozart’s Thematic Catalogue – Introduction
This manuscript is Mozart’s record of his compositions in the last seven years of his life, and thus is a uniquely important document.
During this period, from February 1784 until December 1791, he composed many of his best-known works, including his five mature operas, several of his most beautiful piano sonatas, and his last three great symphonies, as well as several famous lesser works.
Mozart organised the entries in the catalogue in the order in which they were completed. On the left-hand page he entered five compositions, each with its date, title, and often its instrumentation.

Wonderful, thanks! And happy birthday Wolfie. You are the greatest!
It is very interesting to play directly from the handwritten score. Difficult but it gives a completely new dimension. We must be happy they had no computers for clean and boring typesetting back then. Thanks!
Just attended a Mozart concert at local music school with a friend and her 9 year old. We all love it.

January 27th marks Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s 255th birthday, offering a perfect excuse for us to pull out some of our favourite quotes from Wolfie himself and a few well-deserved words from his multitude of admirers.
“Melody is the essence of music. I compare a good melodist to a fine racer, and counterpoints to hack post-horses.” – Mozart
“You know that I become quite powerless whenever I am obliged to write for an instrument which I cannot bear.” – Mozart
“To talk well and eloquently is a very great art, but that an equally great one is to know the right moment to stop.” – Mozart
HAPPEH BIRTHDAY MOZART! I LOVE YOUR REQUIEM!
and concerto no.8 and no.20 and well as don giovanni and ronda alla turca
Some Mozart trivia . If you had recordings of all Mozarts work on CDs and stacked them upright next to one another, they would stretch 2 metres. How is that for prolific writing with no computer, all done by hand and in a life of just 35 years!
Amazing music… All of it.
It’s awesome it’s like a cursive of son of the god of musician.
Happy Birthday, Wolfy !

What a wonderful idea to make available Mozart’s little G major Minuet – thank you. My collection of autograph ms copies are entirely devoted to Fryderyk Chopin, so it will be really good to have the opportunity of including a piece by Mozart! … And Happy Birthday to the great man.

Celebrated by attending Mozart’s Overture to The Magic Flute (K.620), Oboe Concerto in C (K.314), and Requiem (K.626 – Levin’s completion) performed by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Inspiring.
Mozart was linked directly to the Spirit of Love from which all music
flows and of which his was the most pure translation to this sphere
of human consciousness. Mozart’s music is the greatest ever written
and will last eternally because it flowed from Absolute Love! and always
brings joy to the awareness of the listener.
As a wonder kind (child) it shows that in K-1 give information how he wrote the Minuet in perfect style. Happy birthday Wolfgang
