Ludwig van Beethoven
Symphonies - arranged for piano four hands
About Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphonies - arranged for piano four hands
Many would agree that the nine Beethoven symphonies are among the greatest achievements in the history of music. They were revolutionary on every level and ushered in a completely new era of romantic self-expression.
During the century following their composition, before the era of the gramophone, one of the essential means of spreading this music to larger groups of people was by transcriptions. And even now it remains a great way of getting to know these masterpieces.
Liszt made spectacular versions for solo piano, but these arrangements by Hugo Ulrich have long been favourites of duet performers.
